Into the Mind of Martinů--A Masterclass with Katelyn Bouska

Czech Center in New York Presents:

In this conversation at the piano, Dr. Katelyn Bouska engages with music written during Martinů's final years in Paris, his close relationship with composer Vítězslava Kaprálová and then the dark years following her untimely death in 1940 and his escape to New York in 1941.

Music selections include Martinů’s capricious and oh-so-Parisian Film en miniature, his deeply brooding Piano Sonata No. 1 written in the United States as well as a few rarely-heard compositions by Kaprálová herself.
